Description
Classroom management is essential as a teacher. I don’t implement rules; instead, I share my “Classroom Expectations” with my students and keep them on display at the front of my classroom. I have created signs/posters for the following expectations:
•Own your attitude.
•Act with purpose.
•Admit when you’re wrong.
•Believe in others.
•Listen to understand.
•Respect differences.
•View mistakes as feedback.
•Ask questions-solve problems.
•Coach and be coachable.
•Be curious.
•Take risks.
•Create opportunities.
Simply print, laminate, display, and discuss these expectations in your classroom using the Classroom Expectations Chit Chat Cards.
The Classroom Expectations Chit Chat Cards give students the chance to share their own insights about themselves and listen to a peer, while providing them with a focal point to generate more thoughtful discussion. Simply explain your expectations, pass out Chit Chat Cards, and have students share their thoughts with one another.
Directions & Possible Uses:
• Print and laminate Chit Chat Cards. You will need a few sets for whole-class work.
• Pass out the Chit Chat Cards.
• Partner students and allow them time to read through and discuss the Chit Chat cards.
• Have them discuss as few or as many as time allows.
• Bring the groups back together for a whole-class discussion.
• Allow students to listen, share, and discuss their thoughts.
