About Mrs. Beers

I am a middle school teacher in the Cincinnati area. I currently teach 7th grade ELA, which I absolutely LOVE.  Angela K. Bennett says it best with the quote, “Teaching middle school is an adventure, not a job.” I truly love to go work every day!

While I have spent the majority of my 20+ year career at the middle school level, I have also taught 1st grade, 4th grade, 5th grade, and 6th-8th grade reading intervention.  I am also a National Board Certified Teacher in Early Adolescent English Language Arts.

I utilize the workshop approach. Reader’s workshop and writer’s workshop are how I foster my students’ love of reading and writing.  My goal is to be the best teacher I can be for my students. Through this blog I share my classroom experiences, student-centered resource creations, and the joys of being a teacher-mom.

I believe in the power of positivity and relationship building in the classroom. Teachers can play an important role in the development of children, but just like in the real world, mutual trust and respect have to be earned. I try to reflect on each day and grow as an educator.

While my most popular blog posts cover topics like reader’s theater and classroom management, a few of my favorites are centered around the mindset and relationships I have developed as a teacher. Here a few to check out if you are intrerested:

I always say that I learn more from my STUDENTS as teacher. It really is a privilege to teach the next generation of leaders. I look forward to many more years in the classroom!
